Lucy Thomas signs for Coventry United Ladies FC
United secure the services of goalkeeper Lucy Thomas on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old stopper was one of 11 players who were released by Coventry United’s FA Women’s Championship rivals London City Lionesses at the end of last season.

Coventry United announced Thomas’ arrival via a post on their official club Twitter account this morning. The player has signed an initial one-year deal with The Red and Greens while she will rival fellow youngster Olivia Clark for the first choice goalkeeping jersey this season.

Thomas was on the books of Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Arsenal as a youth before moving to then-second tier side Oxford United. The keeper then joined London City Lionesses in summer 2019 and she made 15 FA Women’s Championship appearances for the club, keeping three clean sheets in the process.

In total, seven additions have now been made by Coventry United so far this summer. Thomas joins fellow new signings Katie Wilkinson, Charlie Estcourt, Mollie Green, Olivia Fergusson, Grace Riglar and Nom Hartley at the Butts Park Arena.
