Coventry United Ladies have signed Thorkastelpur FC striker Georgia Stevens.
The 20-year-old who has represented England seven times at youth level is Red and Greens boss Jay Bradford’s third signing of the new year.
Steven’s arrival follows the signings of goalkeeper Olivia Clark and centre half Anna Wilcox, which were announced by the club earlier this week.
Fresh off the back of the announcement in December, which saw the three owners of Coventry firm Mirius confirm a 49 per cent stake in the club, the club’s ambition to climb the league table and turn professional by the start of the 2022/23 season is taking shape, with players being brought in to strengthen the squad.
“Georgia is a great addition to squad and gives us a different dynamic in our front line” said manager Jay Bradford.
Stevens, who represented Liverpool and Everton at youth level has also enjoyed spells with Blackburn, Sheffield United, Fylde and Huddersfield. But through Ultimate Goal, BT Sport’s reality tv show to inspire a new generation of girls and women to participate in football, Stevens earned a move to Iceland, where she signed for Premier League team Thorkastelpur FC.
The season in Iceland was cut short by COVID and she returned to England where she has now put pen to paper with the Women’s Championship side.
Coventry United Ladies, who last played on the 20th December, a 1-1 draw against London Bees, sit 9th in the league table. They are back in action later this month when they visit 4th placed Sheffield United on January 17th.
