COVENTRY UNITED LADIES LEGEND SUE WOOD ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT.

7 MAY 2021

Today we say farewell to a proper Coventry United legend; our goalkeeper, Sue Wood.

Sue joined Coventry City back in the 2010/11 season. Sue stuck with the club when they reformed as Coventry United Ladies FC in 2015.
Sue became club captain in 2017. As well as being nicknamed 'Van Der Sue'. The nickname is testament to her on field ability and key game winning saves, time and time again.

When you hear of Coventry United, the first name that comes to mind is the great, Sue Wood. The goalkeeper won promotions and cups with the club including; the FA Women’s National League South (2013/14, 2018/19), the FA Women’s National plate (2016) and the Birmingham County FA Women’s Cup (2011/12, 2012/13, 2013/14, 2017/18, 2018/19).
Sue has been a leader on and off the pitch. She has been an inspiration for players coming up through the junior section and for many youngsters, who want to become future stars.

“We thank you Sue for your commitment, loyalty, attitude and all round presence over the years at the club. We wish you a very happy retirement because you deserve it, legend.”
